NaturGarten, the association for nature-oriented garden and landscape design, is a recognized environmental and nature conservation organization with more than 5,000 members, including both private individuals and companies active in the green sector (planning and consulting, implementation, production and sales of wild plants, seeds, and materials). The organization is committed nationwide to nature conservation, in particular to promoting biodiversity in built-up areas and in the open landscape. Key areas include education, support for research, and the design of nature-oriented gardens and other green spaces, e.g., in the public and commercial sectors. Our objectives include habitat connectivity, creating a range of habitats to counter species decline, and increasing the climate resilience of settlement areas. Nature Experience Spaces (NER) are essential elements in this context and are far more than just playgrounds or nature play areas. Nature-oriented schoolyards, outdoor facilities in kindergartens, and public play areas represent a necessary adaptation measure in the context of the climate crisis: the sustainable cooling effect achieved through intensive greening is an important element of preventive healthcare. The highly motivating effect of Nature Experience Spaces in encouraging more physical activity and free play also directly supports children\u2019s health. Nature-oriented outdoor spaces in schools and kindergartens open up opportunities for outdoor teaching and for education for sustainable development through direct experiences of nature.
