What is needed are strategies that focus on quality, sustainability and pedagogical openness. One approach that is increasingly coming into focus is the establishment of independent school construction organizations – for example in the form of a “Schulbau GmbH”. Such a structure can bundle processes, manage projects more efficiently and create the basis for an innovative, sustainable school landscape in the long term. The model therefore provides valuable suggestions for local authorities that want to reorganize their school construction activities or further develop existing structures.

Pedagogy in Existing Buildings & Circular Retrofitting
How can new learning concepts be integrated into existing buildings? In addition to pedagogical requirements, the focus is on circular renovation strategies and the sensitive handling of monument protection. The aim is to rethink spaces and transform existing architecture in such a way that it does justice to the schools of tomorrow.

New planning and construction processes
Sustainable school construction requires integrated and cooperative planning procedures that involve all parties involved at an early stage. Clear interfaces between planning, operation and financing are crucial in order to implement projects efficiently and sustainably. Transparent processes and participatory communication ensure acceptance and quality.

Scandinavian impulses & international best practices
Contributions from Norway, Sweden and Denmark show how sustainable school concepts, a conscious food culture and innovative interior design interact. These examples provide valuable impetus for the further development of school construction in Hamburg.

Workshop I, 14:30-15:00
Baukultur in the classroom?
