Following a warm welcome by Anneke von Holst, moderator and communication strategist, the event was opened with clear insights into the future of educational construction by Kirsten Jung, founder and managing director of SCHULBAU \u2013 International Salon and Trade Fair, Peter Hirschmann, head of the Leipzig City School Office, and Thomas Dienberg, Mayor and Deputy for Urban Development and Construction of the City of Leipzig. <\/p>\n\n<p>Matthias H\u00f6nig, architect at Schulz und Schulz Architekten, presented the Johanna-Moosdorf-Schule secondary school as a pioneering urban landmark for Leipzig. In the subsequent &#8220;At the Kitchen Table&#8221; discussion moderated by Kirsten Jung, Ralph Burghart, Deputy Mayor for Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture, and Sport of the City of Chemnitz, and Vicki Felthaus, Deputy Mayor for Youth, Schools, and Democracy of the City of Leipzig, engaged in an intensive debate on political frameworks and future challenges in school construction. Prof. Xaver Egger, architect and managing partner at sehw architektur, impressively presented the transformation of a school in Lusatia as an example of successful modern educational architecture. <\/p>\n\n<p>An emotional highlight was the contribution by Prof. Dr. J\u00f6rg Ramseger, Professor Emeritus of School Pedagogy at the Free University of Berlin. In a captivating and inspiring talk, he explained how good schools are not just places for learning, but places for living, where relationships, a sense of security, and spatial quality make all the difference. His presentation was both touching and inspiring, sparking lively discussions long after the fair had ended.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The day concluded with the &#8220;Blue Hour&#8221; \u2013 a stylish networking dinner at a long, festively set table with plenty of room for in-depth conversations. Christine Ro\u00dfkothen from the Heinz-Trox-Stiftung gave a convincing presentation on how classrooms can be intelligently renovated and sustainably optimized. <\/p>\n\n<p>In the intensive expert discussion &#8220;What do we really need?&#8221;, moderated by Kirsten Jung, Jost Fohmann, Head of Department 21 at the Saxon State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, Juliane Baron, Headteacher of the Marie-Curie-Schule, and Dirk Fellendorf from the Chamber of Architects of Saxony, examined current challenges and pragmatic solutions in Saxon school construction.<\/p>\n\n<p>Cathleen Einenkel-Schwager, founder of Einenkel Landschaftsarchitektur, vividly demonstrated how open spaces become sustainable and pedagogically valuable places through good landscape design. Stefanie Schrohenloher, headteacher of the state all-day school Chemnitzer Schulmodell (CSM), and Marco Puschmann, deputy headteacher of CSM, together with students Nayara K\u00f6nig, Chelsea Scheibner, and Magdalena Richter, presented a visionary perspective for educational spaces in the context of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz. <\/p>\n\n<p>Particularly captivating was the interactive presentation by Prof. Jan R. Krause, Professor of Architecture Media Management (AMM) at Bochum University of Applied Sciences, founding director of the Berlin office office for architectural thinking, architecture communicator, and author. With humor, clarity, and a direct connection to the audience, he discussed the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence in school construction. He actively involved the participants by asking live which AI tools were already being used \u2013 a session that thrilled the audience and encouraged reflection.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In conclusion: An educational campus with a vision for the future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>At the end of the inspiring presentations on Day 2, Ralph Hengst from Raum und Bau Architekten presented the ambitious Marie-Curie-Schule project at the fair. This was followed immediately by an exclusive excursion to this fascinating educational site, where participants could experience firsthand how a modern, multifunctional educational campus was created on the site of the former Wiederitzsch wood processing plant through revitalization and repurposing on Messe-Allee. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lively exchange at over 60 exhibition stands<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The SCHULBAU trade fair was accompanied by more than 60 exhibitors presenting their diverse product innovations. At the lively exhibition stands, numerous visitors engaged in intensive exchanges about the latest trends and sustainable solutions in educational construction, interior design, technology, open space design, and building materials. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SCHULBAU Leipzig 2025 \u2013 Conclusion: Bravely into the future together<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The SCHULBAU trade fair Leipzig 2025 was a successful start full of dynamism, emotion, and community spirit. We look forward to the upcoming events in Munich, Essen, and Hamburg, the International SCHULBAU Think Tank in Copenhagen, and many more inspiring encounters on our shared path toward a sustainable educational future. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What an inspiring start to the SCHULBAU year 2025!
