Main topics:
From project to program:
Since 2014, the Munich City Council has relied on complete construction programs instead of individual measures to provide daycare and school places more quickly. Standard room programs simplify the procedures, but remain flexible and are regularly adapted. The challenge lies in holistic planning, which takes into account educational, architectural, urban planning as well as energy and climate-relevant aspects.
From the corridor school to the learning house:
The demands on schools have changed – away from frontal teaching to a learning and living space that combines education, upbringing and care. All-day schooling, inclusion and modern pedagogical concepts require new room structures, which are architecturally implemented in the learning house concept.
From energy efficiency to climate neutrality:
The focus has shifted from energy efficiency to climate neutrality. In addition to land conservation and the preservation of existing buildings, renewable energies, climate-friendly building materials, more greenery and biodiversity as well as quality assurance play a central role. These aspects enable a holistic view of the entire building life cycle – from planning to operation to recycling

This is where the “All-Day and Space” project comes in: The Montag Foundation Youth and Society is developing concepts for integrated use at five locations selected throughout Germany. The focus is on teamwork, child-friendly rhythm, adapted furniture and fire protection in order to dovetail morning and afternoon pedagogically, organizationally and spatially. The project shows how all-day education is possible without new construction or extension. Dr. Meike Kricke, Monday Foundation Youth and Society |

| 15.00 – 15.20 hrs | The Munich Way in the All-Day School One pillar for fulfilling the legal entitlement to all-day support at primary school age in Munich is primary schools in the model of cooperative all-day education (KoGa). In the 2025/26 school year, there will be 36 KoGa primary schools in the state capital of Munich. This model opens up a great opportunity to enable education and all-day support for all children at their primary school. School will become an all-day place of learning, education and play. Opening hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
11.45 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and 2.45 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.: Short guided tour of the exhibition “10 Years of the School Construction Offensive”
Excursion 16:00 to 18:00
Main topics:
From a high-density individual property to a networked neighbourhood component – School of the future –
The school of the future is developing from an isolated individual building to a networked neighbourhood component. School buildings are designed as multifunctional spaces that enable leisure, culture and social projects in addition to teaching. This creates open meeting places that enrich the neighborhood, use resources efficiently and strengthen the connection between school and neighborhood.
All-day conversions
The expansion of all-day schools in Bavaria and Tyrol requires flexible spatial concepts that combine learning, leisure and recreation. Adaptations of existing buildings as well as well-thought-out new buildings create versatile educational spaces that meet the increasing requirements.
Acoustics
Good acoustics are crucial for concentrated learning and a pleasant atmosphere in schools. Targeted structural measures such as sound-absorbing materials and optimised room concepts reduce noise and improve speech intelligibility.
