Natalia Bazaiou
A school project in Athens shows how architecture can foster curiosity, participation, and collaborative learning.

What does a school communicate through its spaces?
What role do spaces play in learning, perception, and everyday interaction at school? At SCHULBAU Berlin, Natalia Bazaiou, together with Rasmus Iversen, shows how architecture shapes students’ everyday experiences and opens up new opportunities for independent learning and active participation.
The focus is on the further development of the Argyri-Laimou Secondary School in Athens. A new building and the redesign of the outdoor areas connect different learning and recreation zones. Green roofs, visible water cycles, and shared open spaces make ecological relationships tangible. At the same time, the project explores how children and young people can actively shape their learning environment and identify with it.
