Designing sustainable open spaces with experience

Educational construction also includes the areas between and around buildings. They shape the everyday life of a school site and are an important part of its design. With Eike Richter, SCHULBAU Berlin features a landscape architect who combines many years of planning experience with research, consulting, and professional policy engagement.

Richter has been a partner in the firm LA.BAR Landschaftsarchitekten bdla since 2001. In addition, he has undertaken research assignments, further training, and consulting in the field of sustainability for outdoor facilities since 2010. His work thus combines practical planning, professional development, and the transfer of knowledge.

Richter studied landscape planning at the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Seville. From 2017 to 2025, he was chairman of the Berlin/Brandenburg regional association of the Association of German Landscape Architects (bdla). Since 2025, he has been a member of the board of the Berlin Chamber of Architects.

He brings a well-founded open-space perspective to the exchange at SCHULBAU. His experience offers points of contact for all those who view school sites holistically and wish to integrate the sustainability of outdoor spaces more strongly into their planning. In the process, experience from office practice meets findings from research and consulting.
