Introduction to the excursion: Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium Berlin

How can a modern secondary school be realized on a limited plot? At SCHULBAU Berlin, Matthias Fruntke, together with Julius Beier, project manager at AFF Architekten, presents the replacement building of the Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and provides insight into the planning and implementation of the school construction project.

A compact new school building with 784 school places and a special mathematical-scientific profile is being built on a plot of approximately 5,700 square meters near the Ostbahnhof. The introduction focuses on the specially developed spatial program, the participation of the school community in the planning process, and the design of the roof areas and the school garden. The lecture prepares for the subsequent excursion, during which participants can get to know the building and its spatial concepts.
