Anneke von Holst: Expertise for Future Educational Spaces

For over 20 years, Anneke von Holst has supported urban development projects, advising municipalities, planning offices, and institutions. Her focus: climate-conscious urban planning, building culture, and the design of educational spaces. She will moderate the first day of the expo in Leipzig and contribute her expertise to the interdisciplinary dialogue.

As an architect and consultant, she understands the challenges of the educational landscape: How can school buildings be more than just learning environments? Which structural measures transform schools into vibrant meeting places? Her discussion partners from architecture, urban development, and education will provide answers to these questions.

More Than Classrooms: Schools as Social Spaces

SCHULBAU Leipzig 2025 addresses a central aspect of modern educational architecture: schools as multifunctional spaces within the neighborhood. Teaching, leisure, culture – school buildings can build a social bridge between students, the neighborhood, and the city. New spatial concepts not only promote learning but also foster community in the district.

Best practice examples and discussion rounds will demonstrate how such concepts are implemented structurally. The interdisciplinary exchange with architects, educators, and urban planners offers valuable impulses for the educational architecture of the future.

Sustainable School Outdoor Areas: Learning Under the Open Sky

In addition to architecture, the expo also focuses on the design of outdoor spaces. Schoolyards, green roofs, and outdoor learning landscapes provide space for movement, improve the microclimate, and promote environmental education. Greening concepts and sustainable materials are on the event’s agenda.

Leipzig’s Educational Building Offensive: New Schools for a Growing City

The city of Leipzig is responding to rising student numbers with an educational offensive until 2030. Approximately 30 new schools are to be built – through new construction, repurposing, and modernization of existing buildings. The SCHULBAU Salon & Expo in Leipzig provides expert knowledge, practical examples, and new perspectives for sustainable school development.
