From educational vision to space programme – working successfully with schools in Phase Zero

How can differing ideas from education, administration and architecture be brought together into a shared spatial concept? At SCHULBAU Berlin, Timo Schlosser shows how successful collaboration in Phase Zero can be achieved and the importance of a shared language for school building planning.

At the heart of his talk are insights from more than 250 Phase Zero projects. Different educational approaches, conflicting requirements and structural constraints often pose challenges for schools, school authorities and planners. Drawing on practical experience, Timo Schlosser explains how these perspectives can be brought together and translated into a robust space programme. He also shows that joint planning can be successful when further developing existing school buildings.
