SCHULBAU Berlin on November 11 and 12, 2026
At SCHULBAU, we are closely involved with the challenges in construction and administration. We do not hide behind walls; instead, we jointly and purposefully seek solutions:

Berlin continues to build. Who will design the next schools?
Ten years of Berlin’s school construction initiative, thousands of new school places, and the focus already on the next major tasks. On November 11 and 12, SCHULBAU will bring together people at the Loewe Saal who are advancing educational construction in the capital and the entire Berlin-Brandenburg region.
Now, the focus is increasingly on rethinking existing structures: modernizing schools and expanding them flexibly, creating additional spaces, and designing buildings and schoolyards to be climate-resilient. How can this be achieved economically, sustainably, and with good ideas for contemporary learning?
At SCHULBAU, those who initiate projects meet those who plan them and make them possible with new products and solutions. Representatives from the Senate, districts, and school construction companies come together with architecture and planning, education, and business.
Among those present are State Secretary Dr. Torsten Kühne from the Berlin Senate Department for Education and Daniela Riedel, Head of School Construction at HOWOGE. Our exhibitors will also specifically demonstrate what is already possible today, from flexible and modular building concepts to solutions for sustainable and adaptable educational buildings.
The focus is on building within existing structures, flexible school concepts, and climate-resilient learning environments: How much potential lies in existing school buildings? What can modular solutions achieve? And how can schoolyards become vibrant learning and recreational spaces?
Experience school on-site
What particularly pleases us: In the end, we leave the Loewe Saal and enter a school building that makes many of our topics tangible. During our excursion to the recently completed Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium in Berlin-Friedrichshain, we will see how a contemporary school can succeed even in the most confined inner-city spaces. An innovative compartment school with green classrooms and rooftop break areas has been created. An exciting example of how limited space can be transformed into surprisingly extensive learning and living areas.

Just as important as the program on stage is what happens in between. During exhibitor tours, at the kitchen table with Kirsten Jung, during breaks, and at the ‘Blaue Stunde’ (Blue Hour), people who work on the same task in different daily roles come together for discussions.
Because often, the next good school project begins with a good conversation.
We look forward to Berlin!
